Frontiere is a meditative piece with dense instrumental colors, sometimes dark, sometimes pleasantly bright.
It tries to symbolize, with its cyclical form, a journey through thematic ideas that, from simple filler or secondary counterpoint, become protagonists and reveal their hidden potential as if, coming out of nowhere, they succeed in crossing a border (frontiera) which allows them to live in their own light.
Then the piece ends as it started, as if, after having explored new territories, desires to return to its own origins, where it all began.

An original and descriptive piece which also introduces themes from Antonín Dvořák's New World Symphony, easily adatped for band. This choice comes from the fact that the Czech composer visited the United States in the late 1800s. He travelled widely and became acquainted with the music of Afro-Americans and native Indians, aspects which influenced his compositions insomuch that they were included in his famous New World Symphony. Dvořák managed to create a symphonic-classical style influenced by the assimilation of popular American melodies. There are many beautiful melodies in the New World Symphony, and our purpose is to make them known to instrumental groups so they can have the opportunity to play them in an easy and pleasant way

Concert for alto saxophone, dedicated to Gabriele Francioli. In four movements: the first, with a double theme, the soloist, after the introductive cadence, “converses” with the band, by alternating musical phrases; the second is a tango, built on a rhythmic element of the previous movement; the third, the slow movement of the piece, in which the saxophone gradually gains the upper hand, subsequently becoming the undisputed protagonist in the finale “Blues”, which also includes a section of improvisation.
