An original and descriptive piece which also introduces themes from Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony, easily adatped for band. This choice comes from the fact that the Czech composer visited the United States in the late 1800s. He travelled widely and became acquainted with the music of Afro-Americans and native Indians, aspects which influenced his compositions insomuch that they were included in his famous New World Symphony. Dvořák managed to create a symphonic-classical style influenced by the assimilation of popular American melodies. There are many beautiful melodies in the New World Symphony, and our purpose is to make them known to instrumental groups so they can have the opportunity to play them in an easy and pleasant way.
